CIDCO as Special Planning Authority
As per the notification dated 10-1-2013 under Section 40(1) of the MR & TP Act, 1966, covering an area measuring 560 sq. km comprising 270 villages in Raigad and Thane districts, CIDCO has been appointed as the Special Planning Authority to oversee the planning of NAINA.
The Growth Centre
The city will consist of small cities that will be hubs for agro-farming, education, trade, information technology, services, medical treatment, etc.
Broader NAINA Regions
Broader regions include Uran, Panvel, Karjat, Khalapur, Pen & Thane. Panvel or Navi Panvel is the initial region to watch for. Including all the phases, now the notified area of NAINA is for 174 villages addressing about 371.35 sq. km. area. At present Mumbai is spread over 438 sq. km. and Navi Mumbai is spread over 344 sq. km.
