Paving way for boosted connectivity and eased congestion, Navi Mumbai Airport reaches major milestone as IndiGo's Inaugural Flight Lands.

The much-anticipated Navi Mumbai airport project reached a significant milestone as IndiGo's inaugural flight successfully landed on the new runway 08/26. The historic flight touched down around noon, marking the first-ever landing of a commercial aircraft at the airport, according to Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd.
This achievement brings the airport closer to its formal commissioning, which is expected to take place by the end of March, when commercial flights carrying passengers and cargo will officially begin.
In October, the Indian Air Force (IAF) had conducted the first-ever flight to the airport with an Airbus C-295. However, unlike the IAF jet, the IndiGo flight utilized the airport’s advanced Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) and Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) for a more precise landing. These features were not required for the IAF aircraft, which has the capability to land on unpaved surfaces.
This successful test flight is a crucial step in the development of Navi Mumbai Airport, positioning it as an emerging hub for both domestic and international travel.
