Project Development
As an initial step, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has issued a tender to prepare a detailed project report for the highway's construction.
Proposed Alignment
The highway will commence near Badlapur at the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway.
Key interchanges are planned at major junctions, including the Mumbai-Vadodara Spur, Katai-Badlapur Road, and Kalyan Ring Road.
The first major interchange will be at Palegaon in Ambernath, while the second crucial junction at Hedutane near Dombivli will provide access to Metro Route 12, Kalyan Ring Road and Kalyan-Shilphata Road.
Expected Benefits
This new highway is designed to offer better connectivity to the Navi Mumbai International Airport and the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA).
Additionally, it aims to ease congestion on major roads of Shilphata Region consisting Kalyan, Dombivli, Ambernath, Badlapur and surrounding highways, improving traffic flow across the region.
With over 100 ongoing projects in the KDMC-Shilphata region, a key development hub, this highway can significantly boost the real estate sector in the area.
The road will link the rapidly developing Shilphata region to the emerging city of NAINA aka Third Mumbai, via the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, enhancing connectivity and growth opportunities.
